14 300x182 How HALO Network is Work?

The word in almost all Internet users on the lips these days is “broadband”. We have more data to send and download today, including audio, video and photos, which is clogging our wimpy modems. Many Internet users are switching to cable modems and digital subscriber lines (DSLs) to increase its bandwidth. There’s a new type of service being developed, which will air broadband.

At least three companies are planning to offer high speed wireless internet connection by placing aircraft at fixed patterns in hundreds of cities. Angel Technologies is planning an Internet network in the air, called High Altitude Long Operation (HALO), using light planes to circle overhead and provide data delivery faster than a T1 line of business. Consumers could get a connection similar to DSL. In addition, AeroVironment has partnered with NASA in a solar aircraft, UAVs, which serve as the HALO network, and Sky Station International is planning a similar project with blimps instead of planes.
