This has been provided as a utility for VARs, consultants, and
network operators to review approximate costs of a square mile mesh
deployment. This utility does NOT include antennas, mechanicals, etc.
and should not be mis-understood to construe a binding agreement of any
sorts.
The utility is provided as is, and as such, AirMatrix, Inc. makes no
warranty nor guarantee to its suitability, accuracy, nor validity to
your project variables or needs.
-
In general, try to limit your use of 802.11g mesh to very dense subscriber areas.
-
Also, MOST designs should factor in a need for directional antennas and LOS for your 802.11a layer.
A sample diagram of a two tier mesh network is provided to aid your
understanding of the technology and how the calculator should be used.

The default values entered are deemed to
be generically 'safe', your results may vary, and you may find that you
are able to, or need to, tweek these variables to more closely
represent your project needs and or deployment topology. |
Distance between nodes in feet:
*
880 ft spacing is typical in networks designed to provide 'walk about'
style coverage to low power laptop / handheld WiFi devices. Your
results may vary due to terrain, foliage, noise floor, or other reasons. |
